10 academicians from Medipol among the “World’s Most Influential Scientists”

10 academicians from Istanbul Medipol University succeeded in being included in the list of the “World’s Most Influential Scientists”.

The list, prepared by Stanford University and published by the Netherlands-based publishing company Elsevier, was made by evaluating the career performance of scientists around the world. Using the SCOPUS database, more than 220,000 scientists were included in the list, based on criteria, such as the scientific productivity and quality of the work of approximately 7 million scientists. The lists, compiled by Prof. John P. A. Ioannidis and his team in 22 departments and 174 sub-disciplines, were organized into two categories: “Career-Long Impact” and “Annual Impact (2023 only)”.

9 ACADEMICIANS IN THE CAREER-LONG IMPACT CATEGORY
9 academicians from Istanbul Medipol University were among the “World’s Most Influential Scientists” in the “Career-Long Impact” ranking by entering the 2 percentile. Medipol academicians in this category are Prof. Zekai Şen, Prof. Jean de la Rosette, Prof. Hüseyin Arslan, Prof. Pilar Laguna, Prof. Reda Alhajj, Prof. Fatma Jülide Akbuğa, Prof. Bahadır Kürşat Güntürk, Prof. Hasan Dinçer, and Prof. Serhat Yüksel.

7 ACADEMICIANS IN THE ANNUAL IMPACT CATEGORY
In the “Annual Impact” category, Prof. Zekai Şen, Prof. Hasan Dinçer, Prof. Serhat Yüksel, Prof. Jean de la Rosette, Prof. Hüseyin Arslan, and Prof. Pilar Laguna, who are also in the “Career-Long Impact” category, and Research Assistant Saad Hassan, who worked with Prof. Pilar Laguna at our university during the period when the lists were prepared, were included.

EVALUATED USING INTERNATIONAL CRITERIA
While compiling the list of the “World’s Most Influential Scientists” published in the Elsevier Database, the studies produced by scientists throughout their careers were taken into account. In the list, the following international criteria were used: “the number of qualified publications, the impact value of the journals in which the articles are published, the number of citations, h-index, hm-index, number of patents, the number of first-name and sole-authored articles, the number of cited articles, and the impact value of the journals in which the cited articles are published”.
