Announcement on the Turkish Proficiency Exam  

To the Attention of the Students Registered in Turkish Medium Programmes!!!

Students registered in programmes with  Turkish 100% or Turkish 70% medium of instruction must take the Turkish Proficiency Exam.

Who is exempt from the Turkish Proficiency Exam?

Important Note: If you send the B2-C1 level Turkish Proficiency Certificates you have obtained from universities in Turkey to the International Office ([email protected]), you will be exempted from the Turkish Language School. The required levels have been decided as C1 for the School of Dentistry and School of Medicine.

When will I take the exam?

The Turkish Proficiency Exam will be held on 25.09.2023 by the Turkish Language School.

When is the exam?

To take the exam, students must be at the exam hall at 10:45 at the latest. The reading-writing part of the exam is 1 hour 40 minutes. The listening exam is 40 minutes.

Where will the exam be held?

The exam will be on the B4 floor, Kavacık South Campus of Istanbul Medipol University. (You can enter through the backyard in the parking lot. The students will be guided to their exam halls by the staff.)

The table will specifically state the classroom and desk where each student will sit for the exam. The names of the students who will sit for the exam and the classrooms will be announced on our website on 22.09.2023. There is no need to apply further for the exam. Only students whose names appear in the “exam classroom-student table” announced on 22.09.2023 can participate in the exam.

How will the exam be? 

The exam will be conducted in two parts.

1st part:  There will be listening, reading and writing skills exams. Students who score less than 13 points in listening, reading and writing skills at the end of the 1st part are not eligible to take the speaking exam.

2nd part:  The names of students who score 13 or higher in all skill areas in the 1st part of the exam will be announced on the website. The names of the students who took the exam and the dates will be specified. Students who score below 13 in any skill area in the exam must study the Turkish Preparatory Programme before sitting for the speaking exam.

Following the total score of the speaking exam, students who are at the B2-C1 level, can begin their programmes. Students of the School of Dentistry and School of Medicine must hold a C1 level to start their programmes.

The exam will be face-to-face. There will be no online exam.

NOTE: All students taking the exam must bring their ID/passports and pencils. They will also need to provide their student e-mails and student numbers.

Those who do not take the exam, even though their names are in the table to be published on 22.09.2023, will lose their right to sit the exam.

How will I see the results?

The Turkish Language School will announce the exam results on their and Miomedipol websites.

Who will be deemed successful?

Students deemed successful at the B2-C1 level will be exempted from the Turkish Preparatory Programme.

How are the exam scores?

70 and above = C1

60-69= B2

50-59= B1

40-49= A2

30-39=A1

The listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills are evaluated out of 25 points in the exam. The student must get at least 13 points for each skill—otherwise, their level drops to one lower level than the corresponding level.
