Prof. Büyükaslan: TDK reduced words into everyday speech.
The Turkish Language Association (TDK) has changed the spelling of numerous words in the Turkish Dictionary, which Prof. Dr. Ali Büyükaslan, Dean of the School of Communication, examined.
The Turkish Language Association (TDK) has changed the spelling of numerous words in the 12th edition of the Turkish Dictionary, which was released in 2023 and has been in print since 1945. Therefore, a controversy resulted from TDK’s revisions to the dictionary. The problem was evaluated in the Karar Newspaper by Prof. Dr Ali Büyükaslan, Dean of the School of Communication of Istanbul Medipol University. ‘’TDK reduced words to spoken language’’, Büyükaslan emphasised, adding, “If the wrong words are preferred instead of the right ones, change is inevitable.”
