PRESTIGIOUS AWARD FROM TRT TO THE SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION STUDENTS
Students of the School of Communication Murat Ahmet Dönmez and Muzaffer Kılcı were awarded 3rd prize in the “Communicators of Future Competition” organized for the 6th time by TRT this year. The winners of the “Communicators of Future TRT” competition, which is being organized by Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) since 2015 to encourage and contribute to works of the university students regarding their education activities, are announced.The awards found its owners in 11 sub-categories and 5 main categories where 731 students with 625 pieces from 75 universities competed in the competition. Murat Ahmet Dönmez and Muzaffer Kılcı, students of the School of Communication from Istanbul Medipol University, made a huge success by winning 3rd place in the Website / Internet Broadcasting category with their project named ‘Medrese.’ Medipol School of Communication also won an award in 2019 with their website named “Çözüm Istanbul” (Being Çözüm).
PROF. BÜYÜKASLAN: WE ENCOURAGE ALL OF OUR STUDENTS
While expressing his satisfaction with the award, Dean of the Faculty of communication, Prof.Dr.Ali Büyükaslan said that TRT has recently brought a cooperation model covering all factors of communication education to life. Stating that the competition held by TRT was a huge experience for the School of Communication students, Büyükaslan said: “Communication Faculties make significant gains as stakeholders in all these events such as TRT Documentary Awards, TRT Academy Magazine, TRT Academy Training Communicators of Future Competition. Despite the difficulties of the ongoing pandemic period, adding the “Life Fits into Home (Hayat Eve Sığar)” category and the competition held created a significant motivation for us educators and our students. At this point, TRT Communicators of Future Competition means more than just a competition to the school of communication students. We will continue to encourage all of our students to experience all the opportunities TRT offers whether the award is won or not. This competition constitutes one of the most important sector-academy cooperation output that we need very much.”
THERE ARE CULTURE, HISTORY AND ART ON MEDRESE
Created by two students who are interested in researching and writing, the blog website named ‘Medrese.co’ offers history, culture and art themed contents with genuine perspectives to the interest of readers. Dönmez ve Kılcı said that they tried to create a sincere cultural environment in today’s world where access to information is easier. Dönmez and Kılcı while explaining the project was shaped in the earlier days of the universal pandemic, told: “The content of the website contains the historical dimensions of the topics which makes up our current agenda, literature and art interpretations, and the contents that we are aware of but have not heard the stories.” On the way to the award, our Faculty and Associate Professor Berrin Kalsın made a significant contribution. Our main aim is to bring culture, art and history themed content to interested readers. “We also thank TRT for giving a chance to young communicators.”
